Shoutout to the guy at the Dallas repair cafe who showed me how to fix a swollen laptop battery
I took my old laptop there last month, and the volunteer, Mark, walked me through the whole safe removal process with just a plastic spudger and some isopropyl alcohol. He stressed letting the battery sit for 24 hours before recycling it, which I never would have known. Has anyone else done a similar battery swap at home and found a good source for a reliable replacement part?

Yeah, checking the part number is key, I learned that the hard way lol. Got a generic one off Amazon that was a total dud because the listing was wrong. Ended up going straight to the laptop maker's official parts store online, it cost a bit more but showed up in two days and worked perfect.

That 24 hour waiting period is a solid tip, a lot of people rush that step. I've had good luck finding batteries on iFixit because they vet their suppliers and usually include the tools you need. Just make sure you cross-check the part number from your old battery, the generic listings on other sites can be a gamble.
