Heard a guy at Ace Hardware say workbench tops need to be 3/4 inch plywood or they'll sag...
My whole bench is built from 1/2 inch ply with a center support and it's held up fine for 2 years now, has anyone else found that thicker tops are way overkill for home use?

What's your span between those 2x4 supports?

Yeah, have you got any cross bracing or a couple of 2x4s underneath? I've got three different benches in my garage, all 1/2 inch ply, and the key is just spacing your supports close enough. I put a 2x4 frame under mine every 16 inches and that thing doesn't budge, even when I'm hammering on it or setting a heavy vise on there. Most people go way overboard because they're thinking about industrial shop use or just repeating what they heard from some old timer. If you're not parking a truck on it or dropping an engine block, half inch with smart bracing will outlast your house.
