Decided to try manual dimensioning after fighting with auto-dim for 3 hours
Was working on a set of floor plans for a medical office remodel and the auto-dim tool kept putting the numbers in the wrong spots. It took me an extra 90 minutes to clean up all the mess it made versus just doing them by hand from the start.

Hold on, did the auto-dim actually put the numbers in the wrong spots, or were the dimensions themselves just not snapping to the right geometry? I mean, sometimes the issue is that the dimension style is set to "baseline" or something instead of "continuous" and it throws everything off. It's super frustrating when it places a string of numbers that are all overlapping, but that's usually a style setting thing and not the tool itself being broken. Maybe double check that you have the right object snap settings turned on, because I wasted a whole day once realizing my "endpoint" snap was off. Manual is definitely faster sometimes though, I get that.

Wait, were you using the dim command or qdim?
