My stubborn avoidance of grid paper just backfired on a site layout
I tried to do everything digitally for a new project. A simple measurement error showed me why pencil and paper still matter. What tools do you mix to catch mistakes early?

I sketch digitally then print to check.

Project your digital layout onto a blank wall at real size. Honestly, the wrong angles jump out when you see it that big. I use a basic projector from a garage sale, and it showed me where my patio math was off. Tbh, it's become my favorite check before digging starts.

I heard a designer on a podcast say she always prints her digital sketches at 50% scale. The wrong proportions jump out immediately on paper. It's her go-to method before any site visit.
