Warning: I had to choose between a full control board swap or just replacing the relay on a 5 year old dryer

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me last year. Tried the cheap relay fix on a washing machine control board. Saved the customer a ton upfront, felt like a hero. Two weeks later, a different chip on the same board fried and took out the new relay with it. Ended up doing the full board swap anyway and eating the cost of the second service call. Sometimes those older boards are just on their last legs and one part failing is the first sign of the whole thing going.

Update: I switched from a 0.5mm to a 0.3mm mechanical pencil for my detail work

Nice. That's a huge jump down in lead size. Did you have to change your whole hand pressure or just your focus? I'm wondering if the thinner line makes you slow down and plan each mark more, or if it's purely about the physical line being less forgiving.

A customer in my shop last week asked me to fix his 'loud engine' and handed me a bag of loose bolts from his trunk.

Classic garage logic... someone pulls every plug they see and dumps it all together. Next thing you know, you're trying to fit a trailer light connector into a fuel injector socket. It's a special kind of frustration, sorting through a pile of mismatched plastic and metal. You find three identical ones that look perfect, and of course none of them are the right pin count.

I used to ask super broad questions here until someone called me out

Mark sounds like a real joy to be around.

My cashier at the Aldi on Maple Street said she buys whole chickens and gets three meals from one bird

Works like a charm. The bones make a killer soup too.
