PSA: Manual dimensioning on that big warehouse project versus using the auto tool in Civil 3D.

The auto tool was 30% faster but I had to redo half the sheets because it missed key offsets. Anyone else find the time saved gets eaten up by fixing mistakes?

Learned that lesson the hard way on a site plan last year. I split the difference now, using auto for the basic grid and then manually adding the critical ties. The initial setup takes a bit longer, but I never have to go back.

My last project had three critical ties, and I still caught a clash the auto-grid missed.

Yeah, splitting the difference like you said is smart. I read a blog post that called it a "hybrid method" for grid setup. It seems like the best way to catch those tricky clashes auto tools miss.
