I finally figured out why my cutter suction line kept clogging every 3rd week

Spent six months cleaning out settled sand from my suction line every single week on the Mississippi job. Got tipped off by an old hand at the yard who asked if I was running my booster pump at full RPM all the time. Turns out dropping it to 85% let the slurry stay mixed instead of dropping out in the pipe. Has anyone else had better luck with reduced booster speeds on longer runs?

My buddy on a pipeline job out in Wyoming tried the same thing after his foreman told him about it. He said it cut their clogs by like 70% on a 3 mile stretch they were running.

Wait, @wesley_thompson's buddy saw that big of a difference on a 3 mile run? That's actually pretty wild (and I'm jealous of that 70% drop in clogs, honestly). So if dropping it to 85% works that well on long runs, what do you guys think about trying 80% or even lower on those real monster stretches?
