Question about a job in Phoenix that went sideways fast

We prepped a whole house for level 5, but the AC failed overnight in 110 degree heat and the mud set up like concrete before we could even get a trowel on it. Anyone have a good fix for mud that skins over way too quick in extreme dry heat?

Oh man, that sounds like a total nightmare. Phoenix heat is no joke, it'll ruin your whole day in minutes. I've been there with mud setting up way too fast, it's the worst feeling. Honestly, my only fix in that heat is keeping everything cool and wet until the last possible second. Maybe try a retarder in the mix next time, but once it's set like that, you're probably looking at a scrape-off and redo. Brutal.

Retarder saved my last summer project.
