Serious question, are we overthinking the 16 inch stud spacing rule?
I was on a big job in Phoenix last year, a custom home where the architect called for 12 inch centers on every wall. We argued it was overkill, but after hanging and finishing, the walls felt rock solid. Now I push for 12 inch spacing on any high end project, even though most guys think it's a waste of time and material. Has anyone else moved away from the standard 16 inches for certain jobs?

Honestly, what's the actual cost difference in materials for a whole house?

My buddy just built a place and the quote for real hardwood floors was over 30 grand. The laminate that looked almost the same was under 8. That's just one room, basically. Multiply that by every single finish in the house and the gap gets insane. How do people even make that choice?
