TIL bagging your own produce before the scale actually saves time
I'm always stuck behind someone who takes 5 minutes to find the right PLU code for their organic kale. So last week at the Shaw's in Portland I tried putting all my apples and peppers into one bag before weighing them at the self-checkout. It took maybe 30 seconds total instead of the usual guessing game. Has anyone else found a dumb little trick that cuts down on checkout time?

Wait, does that actually work though? I always worry the scale will think the bag itself adds weight or something stupid like that. Honestly I just started memorizing the PLU codes for the stuff I buy every week - 4011 for bananas, 4062 for honeycrisp apples - it saves me so much time fumbling through the screen.

Heard the scale tares the bag weight if you put it on before adding stuff.
