Walked through an old hospital job from the 1970s last week and noticed a big shift

I was doing a panel upgrade at St. Mary's Hospital in Pittsburgh, built back in 1972. The old conduit runs were all rigid steel with huge junction boxes every 20 feet, and every pull was a straight shot. Now we're cramming everything into cable trays with tiny bend radii and hoping it doesn't nick the insulation. Has anyone else seen that kind of change from old commercial work to modern stuff?

Old rigid steel was overbuilt but it worked. Now everything's cheaper and tighter.

The old St. Mary's job we did had 4 inch rigid from the basement to the roof.
