My aunt Deb told me my great grandma's meatloaf recipe is actually from the back of a cracker box in 1974
I was so upset at first cause I thought it was some secret family heirloom. She laughed and said nah honey I just liked the crackers. But honestly the recipe is still good so who cares where it came from right? Has anyone else found out a "family recipe" was just something they clipped from a magazine or box?

Dude, my mom swore her famous potato salad was a secret handed down from her Irish grandmother. Found the exact same recipe on a Hellmann's mayo jar from 1982. Grandmother was apparently a big mayo fan I guess. At least Great Grandma picked a box with good crackers, right? Better than finding out it was an ad from a coupon circular.

Ha, @wyatt_shah85, that's a tough one but at least you can still make it and call it a family recipe with a straight face.
