Heard a designer on a podcast say 'texture is the new color' for fall collections
It made me rethink my whole mood board and start playing with boucle and felted wool swatches. Anyone else shifting focus from palette to tactile elements this season?

Texture can change how a garment sounds... a stiff taffeta skirt has a totally different rustle than a soft knit. That sound adds another layer to the experience of wearing something, beyond just touch or sight. It's a hidden detail that makes clothes feel more alive.

Honestly, is texture really that big of a deal? It feels like designers just need something new to say every season. I like a good fabric, but it's not going to change my whole closet.

The difference between a cheap polyester blazer and a wool one is like night and day... it's not just about looks. A rough linen dress feels completely different on a hot day than a smooth cotton one. Texture changes how the fabric moves and how you feel wearing it. It can make a simple outfit look expensive or feel cozy. I get being tired of trends, but ignoring texture is like only caring about the color of a painting.
