Overheard a guy at my local co-op say a spoke tension meter is a waste of money

Wait, hold on. That mechanic said squeeze and listen? Like he actually told the new guy to just go by ear and feel on a co-op wheel build? I have been using a tension meter for years too and I am honestly shook that someone would dismiss it that hard. I mean sure, the pitch test works okay for finding big differences but relying on it for a wheel that needs to be true and strong? That is wild to me. The margins on spoke tension are tiny, like a few percent off and you get a wobbly mess or a broken spoke a month later. I tried the pitch thing once on my track wheel and I could not tell a 10 kg difference no matter how hard I squeezed. Your ears are not that precise, especially not with a used rim that has dings in it.

My bus app lied about arrival times for 3 straight days

My buddy Mike had the same issue with the 44 bus last winter. His app said the bus was 5 minutes away for 25 minutes straight while he stood in the freezing rain. He finally called the transit company and they said the tracker was off by a mile because of a server glitch. Now he just shows up 10 minutes early and waits no matter what the app says. That app is basically useless now.

Had to choose between using a handsaw or chainsaw for a tight prune job in a backyard yesterday

Wait wait wait, are you seriously trying to tell me that fumbling around with a handsaw for twice as long is actually faster than just using a chainsaw? Ive got to disagree with that logic completely. Youre talking about gas and choke setup like its some huge ordeal that takes a whole afternoon, not like two minutes of your life. Plus with a handsaw you have to stop every ten seconds to shake out your arm and check youre not cutting into something you shouldnt, so that "saved time" argument just doesnt hold water for me.
