Just realized I was wrong about utility pockets after a trip to the Portland airport

Saw a pilot with a jacket that had a hidden zip pocket perfectly sized for a phone and passport, totally seamless from the outside. Anyone know how to draft a pattern for something like that?

Have to disagree on the usefulness of hidden pockets. They seem great until you're in a rush and forget which layer has your boarding pass. I've missed flights fumbling through too many zippers. A good outside pocket you can reach in one motion beats a secret compartment every time. For a pattern, I'd just add a welt pocket with a zip to a standard jacket draft. Keep it simple so you don't lose things.

Yeah but that's kinda the point of a hidden pocket, right? It's not for stuff you need all the time like a boarding pass. You keep your emergency cash or a spare key in there. The regular pockets are for the daily stuff.

Used to think hidden pockets were just for show. Then I got pickpocketed on vacation and my emergency cash in the hidden pocket saved my whole trip. Now I always use them.
