Watching a client in Chicago struggle with a jacket zipper for a full minute made me see I'd been placing them wrong for years.

I always put the pull on the right side for women's jackets, but she was left-handed and kept fumbling, so now I ask about hand dominance during fittings, anyone else adjust for this?

Seems like overthinking a simple zipper to me...

Ever had a zipper fail on a bag you really needed? I had a backpack strap rip right at the zipper track, and it was a total pain. I ended up stitching a small patch of heavy fabric behind the area to spread out the stress. It wasn't pretty, but it held for years after that. Sometimes a little extra reinforcement is what keeps the whole thing from coming apart later.

That's a solid fix for a real problem. People often ignore small weak points until they break completely. A little extra work early on saves a lot of trouble later.
