Shoutout to that old timer who watched me dig post holes wrong for 2 years
I was setting a fence line near Huntsville last spring and this retired guy walks over, watches me for a minute, then just says 'son, you're digging backwards.' Turns out I had been digging on the wrong side of the string line for 12 years, making every gate post crooked. Anyone else have a moment where a complete stranger saved you from being a fool?

That old timer probably saved you thousands in materials and frustration honestly. I remember this guy down at the feed store near Guntersville who watched me loading fence staples for ten minutes before he walked over and showed me I was buying the wrong size for the wire I had. The crazy part is he didn't even work there, just saw me struggling and decided to help. Those old farmers and ranchers have a sixth sense for when somebody is about to make a boneheaded mistake. I bet if you ever run into that retired guy again he'll just nod and keep walking like it was nothing. Thats the kind of wisdom you just don't replace with youtube tutorials lol.
