Appreciation post: the cheap multitool I kept ignoring

I spent 2 years wrestling with a stuck faucet nut in my kitchen, using pliers and swearing. Last week I grabbed my $12 multitool from the garage drawer, flipped out the plier head, and had it loose in 30 seconds. Has anyone else found a tool they dismissed that turned out to be way more useful than they thought?

So you're saying a cheap multitool actually outperformed proper pliers on a stuck nut? I gotta push back on that. I've had those budget multitools snap on me when I put real torque on them, especially the plier heads. The pivot joint usually gives out or gets sloppy after a few tough jobs. Maybe you just got lucky with that one nut, but I'd never trust a $12 tool over a solid pair of channel locks for plumbing work.

Heard a pro plumber say the same thing once - cheap tools flex just enough to strip things worse.
