My buddy's cable management trick finally clicked for me
I was over at my friend Mike's place last week and he has this super clean desk setup. I asked him how he hides all the wires and he just said 'bro, just bundle them with velcro straps behind the desk, not under it.' Something about that simple tip hit different because I always tried to tape them underneath and it looked messy. Has anyone else had a friend say something obvious that finally made your setup look way better?

Bro just bundle them with velcro straps behind the desk not under it" - that's actually wild how such a tiny detail changes everything. I always used to clip my cables to the underside of my desk too and they'd fall off or hang down in ugly loops. So are you saying Mike has them attached to the actual back edge of the desk facing the wall? Because I've seen people run them along the back rail but that sometimes makes a mess when you need to plug something in behind your PC. I guess the real question is how does he handle the cables that need to go to the floor like power strips or monitor cords? I bet that's where most people screw up and give up on the whole thing.

Read somewhere that using a 3M command strip on the back edge works better than adhesive clips for floor cables.

Nah I actually disagree with the whole "behind vs under" thing. I tried the back edge method and cables just ended up dangling weirdly when I needed to move my PC or plug something in. Underside with some good adhesive clips works way better for me because gravity keeps everything tight against the desk instead of flopping around. Also that whole "falling off" problem usually means you got weak adhesive or didn't clean the surface first, alcohol wipe and decent cable clips hold forever.
