A guy came in for a bouquet and told me his wife's favorite flower was a weed

It was a Tuesday afternoon, maybe three weeks back, and this older gentleman walked in. He said he needed something for his wife's birthday, but she only liked one thing: Queen Anne's Lace. He called it a ditch weed, but said she'd loved it since they were kids in Georgia. I had to explain I couldn't get it, it's not a cultivated flower we order. The look on his face... he just nodded and said, 'I guess the fancy stuff never did matter to her.' I ended up making a white bouquet with baby's breath and some lace fern to hint at it. How do you all handle requests for flowers you just can't source, especially when there's a story behind it?

Honestly, I'd have tried harder to find the real thing. Maybe check a local field or a roadside stand. That story was the whole point.

My grandpa once drove three hours just for the right kind of peach.

That's the kind of stubborn love I get. My uncle used to mail-order a specific type of honey from a beekeeper two states over because he swore it was the only stuff that didn't crystallize. The shipping cost more than the honey itself.
