Spent 45 minutes on a single bridal bouquet because I couldn't get the spray roses to sit right

I had this bride come in last Tuesday wanting a tight round bouquet with blush spray roses mixed in. Simple enough, right? Well I spent way too long trying to tuck those little stems in without them bouncing back up or leaving gaps. Ended up pulling them all out and starting over with a peony instead. The spray roses went into a different arrangement. Anyone else hit a wall with a specific flower that just won't cooperate no matter what you do?

Oh man, it's like when you try to organize a drawer and one thing just refuses to fit in.

Last week I spent a solid hour trying to get a purple hydrangea to cooperate in a centerpiece. It kept drooping to one side and making the whole thing look lopsided. Finally I just stuck it in a separate little vase next to the main arrangement and called it a "companion piece." Felt like cheating but nobody else even noticed.

Wait... you just gave up and swapped in a peony instead? That's wild! I don't think I could have done that. Once I've committed to a flower for a bouquet it feels like a personal failure to swap it out. You're braver than me. I'd have sat there for another 45 minutes fighting those stupid roses until I either won or cried.
