Warning: I stopped using floral foam for my large installs after a job in Denver last month
I had a big hotel lobby install with over 200 stems that needed to last a full week. The foam just couldn't hold enough water in that dry air, and things started drooping by day three. I switched to using chicken wire and water tubes for the next one, and everything stayed perfect. It was more work to set up, but the client was way happier. Has anyone else found a better method for long-term displays in dry climates?

Ugh, "dry climates wreck floral foam" is the truth. I had a wedding in Nevada where the foam in the centerpieces was basically dust by the end of the cocktail hour. Everything just sucked all the moisture out so fast. It's such a bad feeling watching it fall apart when you promised it would last. Solidarity, it's the worst.

Totally get that, dry climates wreck floral foam. Had a similar thing happen in Arizona with a big arch piece. Switched to using those reusable water picks and it made all the difference. What did you use to hold the chicken wire shape?
