Question about old VHS tapes and a show called 'The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers'
I used to keep my old show tapes in a big plastic tub, but after a flood in my basement two years ago, half of them got ruined. Now I digitize everything onto a hard drive the day I record it. Has anyone else lost a piece of TV history like that?

My uncle had a whole shelf of old wrestling tapes from the 80s that got tossed during a move. It's a real shame because that stuff just disappears forever. Makes you want to back up everything twice.

Ugh, that's such a gut punch about your Galaxy Rangers tapes. I felt sick just reading it. I totally get why you digitize everything now, that's smart. It's like what barbarac95 said about stuff disappearing forever, it really hits home how fragile these old recordings are.

and it's not even just tapes, you know? like i've got cds from the early 2000s that are starting to rot from that disc rot thing. nobody talks about how regular cds and dvds can just stop working one day. i had a whole box of home videos from family trips that i thought were safe on dvd and then i tried to play one last month and it was all glitchy. so now i'm basically paranoid about it. i scan every old photo i find at my parents house too. the worst part is you don't even realize stuff is gone until years later when you go looking for it. that's why i tell everyone to just do a little bit at a time instead of trying to do it all at once. it's less overwhelming.
