Can we talk about freelancers who think a $500 website is a 'budget' project?

I just saw a post in a local group where someone said they'd do a full 5-page custom site for that price, which basically means they're either using stolen themes or working for under $3 an hour, and it drags rates down for everyone trying to pay rent.

It's actually possible to build a simple custom site for that if you have a fast process, but it definitely sets tough expectations.
