I finally stopped taking every single client call that comes in

I used to jump on every discovery call, even the ones with vague 'I have an idea' emails. After wasting 3 hours last month on a call that went nowhere, I made a short Google Form to screen them first. How do you guys filter out the time-wasters before you even get on the phone?

Totally feel this, that screening form is a game changer. Used to get stuck on calls with people who just wanted free consulting for their half-baked side hustle. Now I ask for their budget range and project timeline right in the form. It filters out like 80% of the tire-kickers immediately. Saves so much mental energy not having to fake interest in impossible requests.

Did you hear about my friend who runs a small web design shop? He got so tired of vague calls that he started asking for a simple one-page summary before booking anything. Last week, someone sent in a "summary" that was just a link to a Pinterest board with no text. He politely said he couldn't help, and it saved him a full hour he would have spent on a pointless call. It really showed how asking for a tiny bit of effort upfront filters out people who aren't serious at all.
