Lost a $2,500 client in one afternoon because of a crappy WiFi call

Was on a Zoom with a big client from Austin last Tuesday. My internet dropped for 10 seconds during their budget talk. They thought I hung up on purpose. Said I seemed unprofessional. Been with them 8 months. Gone in 2 minutes. Anyone else lose work because of bad home internet?

Wait, did anyone else notice that your client jumped straight to "you hung up on purpose" after one dropped call? That says way more about them than your WiFi honestly. After 8 months of solid work, one glitch and they assume the worst? Sounds like they were already looking for an exit strategy and used your internet as the excuse. Bad WiFi sucks for sure, but a client that quick to assume bad intentions is a ticking time bomb. You probably dodged a bullet where they'd blame you for something else down the road.

Exactly this happened to me last year with a client I had for almost a year. One time my internet went out for like 2 minutes during a call, and they immediately said I was being unprofessional and avoiding them. I tried to explain it was just a glitch, but they had already made up their mind. It's wild how some people can work with you for months and then flip over something so small. Looking back, I wasted too much energy trying to fix it when really they were just looking for a reason to leave lol.
