Spent a whole day trying to get a client's payment system to work with my invoice template

A new client in Chicago needed their weird payment portal to accept my standard PDF invoice, and I figured it was a quick fix. I ended up messing with the file format and settings for about 7 hours before I found the right export setting in my billing app. Has anyone else run into payment portals that just will not play nice?

Ugh, tell me about it! I read a blog post last week that called these "payment portal black holes." It's always some tiny setting that's off, right?

Yeah, "payment portal black holes" is a perfect way to put it. I heard someone say it's like those old flash games where everything looks fine on your end but the server just eats it. Specifically heard about one system that couldn't handle file names longer than 20 characters. Just silently failed no error message. Totally random stuff like that. Makes you wonder what other weird rules are hiding in there.

Totally agree with that black hole idea... it's never the big stuff. I had one portal that only accepted PDFs saved with a specific version of Acrobat from like 2012. The file would look perfect to me but their system just spat it out.
