Question about those 'smart' light bulbs that keep dropping off the network
I was about to return my third set of bulbs after they kept disconnecting every other day. Then I found a buried forum post saying to set a static IP for them in your router settings, which I did on my old Netgear Nighthawk. They haven't dropped once in two weeks. Anyone else have to do this weird workaround for 'smart' stuff to just work?

It's like everything new is just a beta test we pay for.

Beta test we pay for" is a bit harsh though. Most stuff works fine out of the box, even if it gets updates later. Are we just more aware of the fixes now?
