My favorite vintage Pyrex dish finally cracked in the oven
Got a gorgeous pink Gooseberry casserole dish at a church rummage sale for $3 fifty years back and yesterday it just split clean in half while I was baking a mac and cheese at 350. Now I'm trying to figure out if I can glue it back together for display or if I should just start hunting for a replacement at estate sales. Anyone else had luck repairing old Pyrex or is that a lost cause?

I read somewhere that Pyrex from that era has more thermal shock issues than the newer borosilicate stuff.

Glue it for display but don't bake in it again, the heat will just loosen the adhesive and you'll be right back where you started.

@amyh21's right, glue it and move on.

Last time I glued a mug handle back on, I used JB Weld clear epoxy and it held up fine for cold drinks for about a year. But if you plan to put hot coffee in it again, you're right that heat will soften most glues over time. I had to toss my favorite camping mug because the handle popped off again after a hot wash cycle. For display only, any decent super glue works but make sure you clamp it tight for at least a few hours or the bond won't set right.
