Met an older guy at the swap meet who rebuilt his own transmission
Was at the Pomona swap meet last month and this guy in his 70s was selling old shop manuals. He told me he rebuilt the TH400 in his 72 Chevelle by himself with just a creeper and a service manual from 1973. Took him three weekends and he said the hardest part was getting the snap rings back in. Made me wonder how many skills like that are just fading out as people stop working on their own stuff.

Isn't that the truth though?

Watched a guy at the grocery store yesterday spend five minutes rearranging his cart because he put the milk in before the eggs. Then he stood there staring at frozen pizzas for another ten. That's pretty much how the whole world runs now. People obsess over the small stuff while the big picture is on fire in the background. We all do it, just in our own version of rearranging the groceries.

Ha, yeah. I guess we're all just spinning our wheels trying to keep the eggs from cracking while the whole store burns down around us.
