Used to just toss my compost scraps in a pile and hope for the best, now I actually layer greens and browns for my giant tegu's enclosure plants
After my wife's 4-foot tegu dug up my whole garden last spring, I started doing hot composting for his bioactive tank and the difference in plant growth is insane, anyone else's reptiles make them change their whole yard setup?

We swapped to a three bin setup after our blue tongue skink kept knocking over our old pile. The hot composting in the middle bin works so well for the enclosure, I actually measure the temp with a probe now. My wife laughs at me for it but the plants in his tank are way greener than anything I grow outside.

Haha yes! My husband gives me the same look when I'm out there with a thermometer checking my worm bins like its some kind of science experiment. I started using a digital probe too after my first batch overheated and killed half my worms. The heat from the middle bin is no joke, keeps the whole system cooking. Our compost pile is basically the MVP of our garden now, everything else just kinda limps along compared to it.

Never used to see the point in probe thermometers @wesley_thompson but this actually makes a ton of sense.
