I thought the 'cold seal' trick for attaching punties was just shop talk until I saw it work on a cracked bowl in Seattle.

So you have to chill a rod in ice water just to hold a cracked bowl? Seems like a lot of extra steps for a temporary fix. How often does this actually work outside of a perfect shop setup. Feels like one of those things that gets talked up more than it gets used.

Honestly, that "shop talk" thing is real. I had a cracked vase that looked done for, but a cold seal punty held it together long enough to get a proper repair done. The trick is chilling the punty rod in ice water first so it grabs without thermal shock. Saved a piece I would have written off.

That "shop talk" thing is everywhere, like when a weird old car fix actually works perfectly.
