Can we talk about the old diner on 5th Street in my hometown
I went back to visit last month and the whole place felt off, like the layout was wrong. I could have sworn the jukebox used to be by the front door, not next to the kitchen. Has anyone else gone somewhere familiar and had a detail feel completely changed?

Memory's weird like that. My old school's gym entrance moved in my head too.

our brains are just making stuff up now" - well, kind of, but I think it's more like our brains are editing the movie as we go. In my experience, the jukebox thing is a classic memory mixup, you might be remembering a different diner or a time someone moved it for a party or something. Take it with a grain of salt, but I've had the same thing happen with a bookstore I loved.
