I swore my neighbor's house was blue, but the old photo album says it was always green

Last week, I was helping my mom clean out her attic in Cincinnati and we found a box of pictures from 2012. I pointed at one showing their house and said 'see, it was blue back then too.' She looked at me funny and said it was painted green when they moved in, in 2010. I checked the photo date, and she was right. For over a decade, I had a clear memory of a blue house that never existed. Has anyone else had a memory that was just plain wrong like that?

Maybe the photo color faded and it actually was blue back then.

Honestly, is it that big of a deal? Our brains mess up little details like colors all the time. It's not like you forgot your own birthday or something major. I'd just laugh it off and move on.

Laugh it off? Sure, if you enjoy questioning your entire existence every time you walk past a house. @anna983 said maybe the photo faded, but I checked the back of that thing and it was printed on quality paper, not like it was left in a puddle for a decade. The color was green as grass in every single shot from 2010 to 2018, so unless my brain decided to pull a prank on me for fun, I'm stuck with a memory of a blue house that never was. Next thing you know, I'll be convinced my cat used to talk to me in full sentences. Honestly, I'd rather have forgotten a birthday than spend the rest of my life arguing with a photo about paint jobs.
