Smart thermostat vs basic programmable was a $200 lesson I shoulda learned sooner

I put a Nest in my 1970s ranch 2 years ago and honestly it drove me nuts. The learning thing kept setting weird temps and my wife would just override it constantly. Last month I yanked it out and put in a $35 basic Honeywell programmable from Home Depot. Set it once for weekdays and weekends, done. My electric bill dropped $12 month one and thats with my AC running exactly when I want. Anyone else ditch their smart stuff for simple?

You been through the whole smart thermostat circus too? It's almost like these companies overthink what's supposed to be a simple switch. I bet half the people with smart ones just end up using the manual override all day anyway.

My Ecobee did the same thing, I switched back to a dumb thermostat too.

Betting half the people with smart ones just end up treating them like manual thermostats anyway except now they're paying extra for the privilege. The Honeywell basic units are bulletproof and do exactly one thing without drama.
