Overheard a guy at a yard sale say 'old ThinkPads are just better built' and that finally clicked for me
He was talking about his T420 still working after 12 years, and I realized my new laptop has already been to the shop twice. Has anyone else gone back to an older machine and been surprised how solid it feels?

Two times to the shop already and it's not even old? Man that's rough. I think a lot of new stuff is just built to be replaced which is such a bummer. A T420 from 12 years ago still going strong is wild honestly. My buddy has an old X220 that he drops all the time and it just keeps working with barely a scratch. Meanwhile I feel like I have to baby my current laptop or it'll fall apart. Maybe it's just me but there's something to be said for the old thick plastic tanks they used to make.

Ngl those old ThinkPads were built different. My T420 still runs like a champ while my friend's new laptop already has a dead battery.
