Took me 45 minutes to pair a used Bluetooth speaker I bought for $15

Picked up a JBL Flip 3 from a guy on here last week for $15. Figured it would take two seconds to connect to my phone. Instead it was in pairing mode but kept failing because the previous owner's phone was still saved to it. Had to hold down the volume up and bluetooth button for 10 seconds to factory reset it. Has anyone else run into a reset trick that took way longer to find than it should have?

Wait, did you try just looking up the manual online FIRST or did you just wing it like I would have done? Because I swear half the time with cheap used electronics the solution is buried in some random Reddit thread from 2018. But honestly, that reset trick sounds like a hidden easter egg nobody tells you about until you're already frustrated and ready to throw the thing out the window. Bluetooth devices are the WORST for this kind of nonsense. The manufacturers must KNOW people are gonna resell these things, so why don't they put a simple reset button somewhere visible? Makes me wonder how many people just gave up and tossed that speaker in a drawer because they couldn't figure out the secret button combo.

Oh man @juliahall you totally changed my mind on this one lol. I used to think people were just lazy for not googling stuff but you're right, the manufacturers are the real problem here. They definitely expect us to just magically know the secret button dance instead of putting a tiny reset switch somewhere obvious.
