Overheard my neighbor say she tosses out plastic containers after one use

I was watering my garden last week and caught my neighbor saying she throws away every takeout container after using it once because she thinks washing them is gross. It got me thinking about how many of us just toss things without a second thought. Does anyone else wash and reuse plastic containers multiple times, or am I the odd one out here?

I keep mine for years until they crack or melt in the microwave.

They keep them for years until they crack or melt? That sounds like a slow health problem waiting to happen. Those plastics break down over time and washing them wears down the surface even more, letting chemicals leach into your food. You might save a few bucks, but I’d rather toss them and not gamble with my insides.
