Had a buddy call my lift kit install 'dangerously half-assed' and he was right
Last month I threw on a 4 inch lift on my '97 Tacoma in my driveway. Thought I was done in a weekend but a friend came by and pointed out I left the brake lines completely stock and didn't drop the diff. He basically said I was one bump away from snapping something. I ended up spending another $200 on extended lines and a diff drop kit. Has anyone else had a ‘friend check’ save them from a bad build decision?

Had me thinking about my buddy who saved me from a worse mistake back in high school. I was bolting a light bar onto my old jeep and he pointed out I had the wiring running right where the hood hinge would pinch it. Wouldve fried the whole electrical system first time I opened the hood. Its funny how the pros can spot stuff you never even think about. Makes you wonder how many other things roll around that are just waiting to fail. Dudes like that are worth their weight in gold even if they hurt your ego a little.

My cousin did something similar but with a garden hose. He was trying to rig up a temporary sprinkler system for his backyard and ran the hose under his garage door. First time he tried to close the door it pinched the hose so bad it burst and sprayed water everywhere. Took him forever to clean up the mess and he had to buy a whole new hose. Its wild how the simplest things can turn into disasters when you're in a hurry. I've learned to always take an extra five minutes to double check where stuff is routed before calling it done.
