I think dropping $3,000 on a long travel kit for a Tacoma is overkill when most people never even leave gravel roads

Last summer out near Flagstaff I watched a guy shred his brand new control arms on a rock garden because he tried to blast through it with 14 inches of travel, and I fixed my dented skid plate with a $40 bottle jack and a sledgehammer after crawling the same trail slow and steady, so why are we acting like monster suspension is the only way to build a rig?

More travel means you can hit harder lines without slowing down.

yeah i used to be full on in the "more travel = better" camp when i first got my taco. thought slow and steady was for grandmas. then i spent a weekend at moab and watched a dude with a 3k long travel setup snap a tie rod on a line i walked through in my stock rig just by picking my lines better. taught me that skill and patience beat throwing money at the truck every time. now i save the cash for gas and camping beer instead of pretending im a trophy truck.
