Bought a $9 silicone sling for my air fryer basket

I was tired of charring my knuckles trying to flip chicken thighs halfway through, so I grabbed one of those silicone slings from the kitchen gadget bin at Target. It actually lets me lift the whole basket out without burning myself, but now the bottom of my fries don't crisp up as much because it blocks the airflow a bit. Has anyone found a way to use these without sacrificing that crunch on the underside?

Yeah the "bottom of my fries don't crisp up" thing is REAL. My buddy Mike tried one of those and said his tater tots came out looking steamed instead of fried.

@drew906 called it, those slings turn crispy stuff into soggy messes. I tried one and my sweet potato fries came out looking like boiled potatoes. Did you try flipping the sling upside down or cutting slits in it to let more hot air through? @drew906 might have a point about Mike's tater tots too.
