Hotel lobby in Reno had door sensors mounted upside down

Checked into a job at the Silver Legacy last month and counted 14 rooms with reversed reed switches on the window contacts, has anyone else run into installers who clearly never looked at the gap direction before screwing the base plate in?

You know, I used to blame the guys on the ladder every single time I saw a reversed reed switch, but your point about the factory pre-drilled holes totally changed my mind. That explains so many installs where the base plate just couldn't line up right no matter how careful someone was. Still, the magnet upside down thing with the switch closing is the real nightmare, because it passes the walk test and then fails exactly when you need it.

and honestly that might not even be the installer's fault half the time. I've seen factory pre-drilled holes on those Honeywell bases that line up wrong for the reed switch gap if you mount them on the right side vs the left side of a door. So somebody in a warehouse made a mistake, not the guy on the ladder. But what REALLY grinds my gears is when the magnet side gets installed upside down and the switch still closes, so nobody catches it until the door is actually open and the alarm doesn't trip. That's the scary part, it looks fine during a walk test but fails in real life. Every time I see that I take a photo and send it to the GC, because that's a liability nightmare waiting to happen.
