Dropped $280 on a swamp cooler tune-up in the Heights and it actually paid off
Got tired of my house hitting 82 degrees by 3pm every day in June, so I called a guy off Montgomery to service the cooler. He replaced the pads, spider, and bearing for about $280 and now the place stays at 74 even on the hot days. I was ready to call it a waste of cash if it only lasted the summer. Anybody got a guy who does this cheaper, or should I just stick with him next year?
Funny how the stuff that feels dumb to spend money on upfront usually turns out to be the best deal. I've noticed the same thing with car maintenance and even shoes, cheap out now and you pay double later. The way I see it, 280 bucks for a whole summer of sleeping at 74 degrees is like 3 dollars a day. Where else you getting comfort that cheap? Sticking with the guy who already knows your setup seems smarter than rolling the dice on a cheaper stranger next June.
