Just learned the original Route 66 alignment went right through Central Ave in Albuquerque

I was reading a history blog from the city library archives and found out that before the interstate system, the old Route 66 ran straight down Central Avenue from downtown all the way to the west mesa. They even have a specific marker near the KiMo Theatre showing the exact spot where travelers used to stop. I had no idea our stretch of Central was once the main drag for cross country road trips. Has anyone here ever followed the old Route 66 path through town?

Funny enough, a buddy of mine drove that exact stretch last summer in his old Mustang.

The old neon signs on Central still glow from that era downtown.
