Seems like driving the speed limit on Paseo is the unpopular opinion now
I mean, I got honked at twice last month for doing 55 in the right lane near the Coors exit. Some guy in a lifted truck actually yelled something about learning to drive. Idk, I used to think going with the flow was safer, but after almost getting side-swiped on Tramway I started sticking closer to the limit. Anyone else feel like the speeders are getting worse around the Westside?

I read somewhere that APD actually did a study on Paseo last spring and found that the average speed in the right lane was closer to 65 than 55. That probably explains why people get so riled up when you actually drive the limit. I remember my dad telling me that traffic enforcement used to be a lot stricter around here back in the 90s, and people just drove slower because they knew theyd get a ticket. Now it feels like nobody even bothers unless theres a crash. Ive started taking Rio Grande instead of Paseo when I can, just to avoid the whole mess. Its a little slower but way less stressful than dealing with people riding my bumper.

And here I was thinking the speed limit was just a suggestion, like the "use by" date on a can of soup. Honestly, if APD really found people doing 65 in a 55, they probably just shrugged and said "close enough" since nobody in this town writes tickets unless they're trying to meet a quota at the end of the month. My take? The whole thing's a joke. You either go with the flow and risk a ticket if they're suddenly paying attention, or you drive the limit and get treated like you're towing a boat through traffic. Rio Grande's a good call, I've been using side streets myself just to keep my blood pressure down. But hey, maybe one day they'll slap a few more speed cameras up and we can all be pleasantly surprised when the left lane actually moves at a reasonable pace.
