Update: the guy at the Nob Hill growler fill said our tap water is why his IPA tastes off
I was filling a growler at a spot on Central last Friday and the guy next to me swore the water here makes his home brew taste flat compared to when he lived in Oregon. He said he started buying 5 gallon jugs from the store off San Mateo and it fixed it, which seems like a lot of hassle for beer that's already fine. Has anyone else noticed the water tasting different depending on what part of town you're in, or is this guy just chasing ghosts?
Tbh water totally varies by part of town here. Older neighborhoods have way more minerals in the pipes, and that can mess with hop flavor in a big way. Tell him to grab a cheap carbon filter before hauling jugs from the store, way less of a pain.
