Watching Central Avenue change over 20 years is wild.
I swear half the old diners and shops I remember from the 90s are gone now, replaced by those new mixed-use apartments with the fancy glass fronts. You ever catch yourself driving through a part of town and not recognizing it at all?

People don't realize how many of those old buildings had asbestos or lead pipes that made them way cheaper to tear down than fix up, so the new stuff was pretty much inevitable.

Funny thing is, those repairs could've been done with modern grants and tax credits, but nobody pushed for that back then. Now we act like it's too late when a lot of that history could've been saved.
