Dropped my whole anime backlog because of one filler arc

Started watching a 90s mecha show last month, 200+ episodes. Got to episode 63, it was the third flashback arc in a row. Every character just repeating the same trauma, zero plot movement. I skipped ahead 10 episodes to see if it got better, nope, still recycling the same scene. Tossed it out of my queue completely. Am I crazy for ditching a classic over filler, or does anyone else hit that wall too?

Peeped the same thing with a 90s space opera once, hit episode 40 and it was just the same pilot crying over the same dead friend for the fifth time, ended up rewatching a cooking show instead and never looked back. You're not crazy, that wall is real.
