My roommate's mom said 'it's just dirt in a bucket' when she saw my setup, which made me realize I was overthinking the whole process.

After that, I stopped fussing with exact ratios and just started layering my kitchen scraps with torn-up junk mail, and the smell vanished completely.

Oh man, that hits home. I used to get so stuck on the perfect green to brown ratio. It felt like a science project. My pile just sat there, wet and stinky. Letting go of that and just mixing whatever I had changed everything. It really is just dirt in a bucket sometimes.

Love that kind of practical advice. Sometimes you just need someone to cut through all the noise and give you the simple truth. It's amazing how well it works when you stop trying to be perfect.

Totally. My therapist told me to aim for a B-minus effort on chores. Game changer. The laundry gets done now.
