Update: I used to just replace the whole door boot seal on front loaders, but after a job in Tampa last month where the customer couldn't afford the part, I learned you can often fix a small leak with just a $3 tube of silicone and a careful re-seat.

Honestly, what other small fixes do you guys use to save a customer money when a full part swap isn't in their budget?

That silicone trick is solid, but be careful with it on the door boot. I've seen it fail after a few months because the rubber flexes so much. For a real budget fix on a front loader leak, I always check the drain pump filter area first. A clog there can make water back up and look like a seal leak. Cleaning that out is free and fixes it half the time.

Oh man, the old silicone on the boot trick... that's a classic "fix" that lasts just long enough for you to forget about the leak. Then it lets go during a heavy cycle and you're mopping the floor again. Definitely learned that one the hard way on my old machine. Checking the pump filter first is such a better move, saves so much pointless work.
